    Removing characters from multiple cells

Ok so I have a list of numbers all ending in * and I want it removed. I know in the past I can highlight the row, go to edit menu select find, I type * in the find what area, click replace and than select replace all it will remove it but this list when I do that it removes the entire list. Any help?

Use the tilde before the asterisk to replace and actual asterisk..

    e.g. Find What: ~*

    Replace with: (leave blank)

worked like a charm. Just out of curiousity what is the difference between me doing it with just * and your way with ~*. Or maybe to make it easier why do I use the ~? Thanks!

The * (and the ?) are wildcards in a search. So when you search for *, you're getting everything (? represents a single letter, * any # of characters). The tilde ~ tells Excel that you want to search specifically for the * and not to use it as a wildcard.
