Multiplication of giving #VALUE! error

Hi Guys,
I am using this formula =B2*0.25*C2*0.4*0.05

B2 is a price like $1.12 and C2 is a constant number like 1200, The problem I am having is that I am using lists that have a lot of values in them and I get a #VALUE! error, but when I remove the $ sign the formula works. but it is a pain as it takes so long to remove all the $ each time I get a list. Any reply are greatly appreciated . I am using excel 2003 and 2007
