Yes, excel 2010 will read earlier versions with no problem and the same restrictions on VBA with Menus and command bars remains true, also some directory functions in VBA.

There are also additional problems with 64 bit versions of Excel that pop up especially if VBA accesses the windows API!

Re: conversion Excel 2003 to 2010

I have an Excel 2003 file with extensive VBA programming. The issue is that it runs fine on some Win7/Office2010 machines (inputting data/calculating) but not on others. When it does not run, it gives the run-time error 28 (stack overflow) on Win7 machines or on XP machines it simply exits out of Excel completely.

What is odd is that it no longer runs on my computer (XP operating system) ever since Office 2003 was upgraded to Office 2010. None of the forums/suggestions I've tried so far has helped. And since the issue is so dependent on what machine is running it, I believe the problem is not with Win7/XP or Excel 2003/2010 but with perhaps the hardware drivers of the various machines.

Any ideas or suggestions for remediation would be appreciated.
