    Format X axis

    Hi there,

I am creating a series of river profiles (elevation vs. distance). I have elevation on the y axis (and that’s fine) and distance on the x axis. I would like to format the x axis to read 0, 100,200, 300 so all my graphs will be standardized. Right now, when I make the graph my x axis looks something like 0, 34, 63... Etc. I do not have the values 100, 200...etc. in my data and I cannot add them (for data integrity purposes) so I was hoping there was a way that excel could label an axis but using a category or a specific interval unit.

I have already specified an interval unit in axis options but it doesn’t seem to want to work...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you have a line graph rather than an XY scatter plot. Select the chart, chart type, ...

    Re: Format X axis

When I choose to specify an interval unit it gives me the interval starting at 1 even if my data starts at 0.

When I Edit the horizontal Axis Labels to include the x axis data I get the labels starting at 0 but the interval becomes irregular.

I am using an area fill type chart (second option)

Nice picture. You could change the axis with Photoshop.
