Introducing a formula with lookup, not a value.

    Hi!

I posted a thread two days ago and I didn't solve the problem yet. I think that probably I didn't explained myself correctly, so I'll try again making it simpler. If you want to check my old thread is

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...a-formula.html

The problem is that I have a huge table with blank cells and 140 types of codes. Each code corresponds with a formula that I want to introduce in each case. I thought that the most suitable way to do so is using a lookup table, whit the codes and correspondent formulas. But:
    - If I use lookup, I'll import values, not formulas.
    - I don't know how to store a formula in a cell of the lookup table without using it.

Probably there is a more sensible way to do this. Is it?

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Introducing a formula with lookup, not a value.

    Hi again:

This is a reply to my own thread.

I gave a step away from my ignorance after making some research. I discovered that I must make my own custom formulas within a VBA module for store all them. Now, my doubt is if I can store 140 "cases" in only one custom formula or I do have to do 140 individual costum formulae.

Besides that, I still don't know how I indicate the relative position of the arguments respect to the cell where the custom formula is applied.

Apart from that, I would like to know:
When a post is not answered... does it mean that

    A) the problem is too difficult and nobody is willing to spend so much time with it.
    B) I'm asking something so obvious that it doesn't deserve to be answered.
    C) I should read "VBA for dummies" before asking anything about VBA.
    D) I'm breaking any forum's rule.
    E) I'm an idiot and I don't know how to explain what I want to do

You should definately provide an exaple, upload a workbook with your exact problem.

I will try and help from there.

Edit: Looking at older [post now

Are all of the formulas in the format -

    A +/- B * (( I - X) /365)

If so we may have a way.

    Let me know.

    Hei DP978!

Thanks for your answer. I have aprox. 140 formulas and I didn't check all them, but I think we can assume that they will have the format
    A +/- B * (( I - X) /365)

although some could be just A and others B * (( I - X) /365), or another number could be in the place of 365.

It is important to point out that A is sometimes the result of previous calculations.

You can see the file of my last example in the last post of the original threat:

    Thank you!
