    Pivot Tables and Conditional Formatting

I have created a Pivot Table for a work document. In the pivot table, I have set up conditional formats to highlight problem areas for reporting purposes. When I distribute the document, I password protect the worksheet so that the end users cannot change anything within the pivot table. When I go to update the data, I unprotect the sheet and refresh the pivot table in the document. Once I hit refresh, I lose ALL conditional formatting. All the formulas are wiped away like they didnt even exist. Is there any way that I can prevent this from happening?
