Using Drop Down Menu to refer to other cells

Hi guys (and gals?)

I have a drop down menu, and with a range from A-L each letter referring to different cells (its a list of dates) on the same sheet. I want to be able to let the user select A-L and when they make that selection it displays cell X (X being a cell that is on the same sheet) in another cell. For example (and I realise this is not a langauge but)

If user=A show B1 in C7, if not
if user=B show B2 in C7, if not
If user=C show B3 in C7, if not

etc etc

Any Ideas
