excel2003 alternative to if function when dealing with more than 7 if's

    hello everyone

    can anyone help me please?

I would like to be able to input data onto sheet 3 only and this would produce a simplified work rota i.e. BASE ROTA sheet. please.

on worksheet 3 on the attached spreadsheet what do i need to create to allow columns (work area) c, e, f etc to be autofilled in, when names from a validated list are inputted into columns (start Times) b, d , f etc.
i presume i will have to creat a list that shows the name and that persons work area combined but really not sure, the 2 lists i have set up are on sheet 1

Another problem I have is how to transfer the information from sheet 3 into the simplified base rota sheet. difficult because i need the base rota to look for the person by name and then in day order enter that persons hours for that day. However a lot of people are asked to work 'double shifts' which creates an issue.

sheet 3 is set up to count exactly how many people are in at each time slot and what that persons work area is to ensure that we have the right number of people in the right areas at the right time. to get the count to work correctly I have used 5pm as the start for the second shifts which would mean someone starting at 8 am and working all day would need to be entered into column B and columun T for that day hope that makes sense.

so a person could be entered into an individual day twice but on the base rota i would want it to show 8am to finish and not 8amto5pm then 5pm to finish is this possible or am i just wishfull thinking please?

hopefully you can understand what I am after

    kind regards and thank you
