Excel 2007 : disable excel formating numbers to date

When I enter in to the cell number 03/10-01, excel automatically formats this cell as a date - 2003.10.01

I tried to change numbers category, but it doesn't work... In general and other tabs it shows number 37895 and it doesn't make any sense for me...

I hope that there is some simle way to fix this...
