Question white screen tastic, is there something wrong with my excel?

I have an almost brand new 3GB laptop and work for a major multinational who I'm sure would have a super server .. yet both my boss & I still suffer from white screen's ALL THE TIME, and it's almost beyond a joke. we've both been heavy excel users for years, but we've never seen anything like this .. also, when we first installed excel2007 we noticed that the check box to 'update links upon opening' simply didn't work for us .. this feels like a pretty odd question since I've always sworn on Microsoft excel, but could there be something wrong with our excel ???

any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

This may sound unhelpful, but with a company your size (multinational) I'd suggest contacting your IT department to look into it!

I work for a large multinational company and we still use Dells GX260 (1.6ghz) and run NT 4.0 as our OS....bad... yes... espically when you're trying to data mine.

It sounds frustrating to work with such outdated systems! Have you come across any creative solutions or workarounds for data mining on these legacy setups?
Using Excel I can make anything I want.

Thanks guys ... but unfortunately for me, the IT department weren't able to help either, I've already tried them!

I'm also using a dell though (an E6400) .. could that have something to do with it? My boss has an HP but also suffers from exactly the same issues?

How about the actual spreadsheets we're building .. do we think that could have any impact? It's not uncommon for them to be >30,000KB .. we often have a fair few pivot tables per tab & workbook .. and we're using all sorts of advanced formulae .. is there anywhere to receive advice of "safely" applying so many functions into one spreadsheet? 'There was a time when I would have categorically believed this wouldn't be an issue .. but now I'm not so sure!

I was going to suggest that you may have reached the cell format limit of 4000, but then noticed you're using XL 2007, in which they increased this to 64000
