'Circular' formula

Hi,

I want to automatically calc x when i have a '5x = 10 + 10*(20-x)' type formula.

I do not know how to do this in Excel though...

Any help is very much appreciated.

ok I accidently/carelessly typed in a basic equation

I mean where I have a variable that needs calculating such as x^2 - x = 5

The quick answer is :
1.type any number in cell A1
2.create your formula in cell B1 such as =(A1^2)-A1
3.use from main menu Tools Goal Seek ...

ok thanks for that. Goalseek does not seem to always be precise but its good enough.
