duplicating text strings in different worksheets

I have several workbooks that are used to collect data with comments.

I want to duplicate the text data (comments) from each workbook into a consolidated worksheet for a summary review of the comments.

    when I enter the ='[Student01.xlsx]Student Sheet 1'!$A$12:$H$14

I get a #value! returned in to summary worksheet cell.

    How do I solve this?

You enter this formula into a cell:
    ='[Student01.xlsx]Student Sheet 1'!A12

Then copy that cell down and across to get the rest of the values to appear.

    Or just copy-n-paste.
