Paste formulas between workbooks while maintaining relative references (2007)

    Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to paste some formulas form one workbook to another. The workbooks are highly similar; mostly the differences are in the data the workbooks contain. However, the target workbook is also missing a certain column of formulas.

So, I'd like to paste a column of 25 different formulas from one workbook to the other. But when I do that -- even with paste special / formulas -- the resulting formulas in the target workbook still refer back to cells in the source workbook! I want them to refer to the exact same cell addresses, but now in the target workbook!

    Ideas anyone?

    Cheers,

    Jay

    Hi Jay,

I find the safest way to maintain formula references when copying from one workbook to another is to take it one formula at a time:

    - select the first formula
    - hit F2
    - copy the formula from the formula bar and hit Esc
    - go to the target workbook and cell
    - hit F2 and paste

It's a bit more time consuming but it works!
