Can a Trend Line be confined to a range of data, rather than ALL the data in a chart ?
You can define (in your original data) wich data to be ploted (for example all above value =3) and then draw that line and create Trend Line.
Never use Merged Cells in Excel
It is encouraging to hear from you that it is possible. Now the HOW ?
My x-axis is Time. I'd like to see trend lines for values (in the y-axis), for just certain periods (on the x-axis). I have no idea where/how to begin with the defining that you specify.
Can you upload example?
You would need to break the data into separate series, and add a trendline for each.
You know you can do a moving average trendline?
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate
I will try. The last time I tried, I could not see any way to access what I had uploaded.
AS WELL AS THAT
In my attempt to simplify the chart [by deleting rows and columns and formulas], so as to send you only RELEVANT information, I'm confronted by a 'refusal' by the chart to accept the new data range for the old chart format. I'm quite puzzled by the format of the data range before modification, which shows THREE arguments ! namely =Sheet1!$N$6:$P$111,Sheet1!$N$113:$P$170,Sheet1!$N$172:$P$175
when I expected a reference ONLY to the data range in the column for the x-axis and a reference to the data range in the column for the y-axis.
So I will have to owe you an upload until this new problem is sorted out.
