Question Date formats (Locking Regional Settings)

    Hi,

Hopefully this is a quick fix?

Is there any way of locking regional settings on an Excel spreadsheet?

I recently ran into an error which took me hours to figure out why my formulas were working on my local machiene but not my server. I realized the date values were being read differently on the server because its regional settings were for English(USA) and my local machiene is set for English(Canada) aka date format MM/DD/YY (USA) vs. DD/MM/YY (UK/Canada).

I've set the server's regional settings for English (United Kingdom) but I wonder if I could avoid this error happening to anyone else by locking the file's regional settings/date formats?

    Thanks!

What formulas do the regional settings affect?

Re: Date formats (Locking Regional Settings)

    Hi SHG,

Very sorry for the delay, holiday season hit and it was time to take a break from work!

The sheet uses a lot of Date variables to mine data. AKA I enter specific months or date ranges to find out information on clients.

Our server was in USA format, and I use Canada (UK) format on my local machiene... USA: MM/DD/YY Canada: DD/MM/YY - needless to say, the formulas broke.

I send this sheet to a number of people, I'd like to avoid this happening to anyone else.

    Thanks!
