Question Newly installed Excel 2007 - basic input mask???

    Hi,

I've just recently installed Excel 2007 - I have it at work, so I am familiar with it already.

On my computer at home, when I am in Excel, it seems that I need to either enter a decimal point after a number, or I need to add two zeros before I hit enter. Otherwise, if I enter 470,000 and hit enter, it registers the cell as containing 4,700. Am I missing a simple setting, or is there some sort of mask set up?

I'm very used to using masks on my adding machine - for entering dollars and cents, for example, so I don't need to enter the decimal - but I've never run into this before.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks!

    hi sbeebs,

    welcome to the forum.

check this setting: click the Office button, then Excel Options - Advanced -- and in the Editing Options make sure that the box for

    Automatically insert a decimal point

    is not selected.

    cheers

Wow, that was quick! Thanks so much, it worked like a charm! That was driving me crazy... I'm just so spoiled with all my settings being perfect at work... now that I have VPN access to work at home, I'll be using it here MUCH more.

Thanks again, I think I'll bookmark this awesome site!

I'm sure I'll be posting here again, since I'm "kind of" new to this - at least at home!

    Ciao!
