    Conditional Formatting help

I need some help with conditional formatting. I have attached a copy of my "budget" for those that can help.

What i need is whenever you choose a option in A9 on PayCheck - DEC - 09 - B it will count the number of items on the right and hightlight them with a color.

I use =COUNTIF('PayCheck - DEC-09-B'!E$2:E$1000,A9) in A11 to tell me the number of occurences but I would also like a visual effect with colors.

Can anybody help with this one?

    Many Thanks,
    Adam

There is no attachment and you don't provide enough information in the thread to suggest the exact solution.

See this link for help on Conditional Formatting

For more specific help post the workbook and clarify the conditions/criteria for apply the format.

    Re: Conditional Formatting help

oppsss sorry about that I have attached it now. Here is what I want sorry I left out some stuff

What i need is whenever you choose a option in A9 on PayCheck - DEC - 09 - B it will check the E colum for matches and than count them and hightlight what it finds in a color.

I use =COUNTIF('PayCheck - DEC-09-B'!E$2:E$1000,A9) in A11 to tell me the number of occurences but I would also like a visual effect with colors.

    Does that help?

Use CF, formula option and this formula in column-E, beginning with E3.

    =E3=$A$9

    See attached.
