    "Open document with macros enabled".

    Excel 2000.
I am a raw beginner to VBA and this function is brilliant! Something I had wanted for a looong time.
I then changed the code (in a second module) to 'UnProtect'. That worked too!

However, after saving the protected workbook and re-opening, the macros are disabled, and a message appears: "Open document with macros enabled".

How on earth do I do that? I can find no obvious solution. It's probably staring me in the face if I looked hard enough.

    TIA

    Alan

Zagra, could you please update your profile and state your Excel version? this will make it much easier to point out menu/ribbon commands for your version.

    cheers

FOR OFFICE 2007 : Click on developer tab and there is a button by the name of Macro security and then select the last option
"Enable all macro ( not recommended ,potentially dangerous code can run"
    and then click ok

To enable developer tab click microsoft office icon on the top left and select "excel option" lower bottom and then in popular tab select " show developer tab in the ribbon" and then click ok

    For office 2003 :

Click on tool > macro > security > and the option to low

Note that only you wont received the marco prompt when u open the sheet but if you / someone else open the excel in their own / another pc with macro security enable , they will get the prompt message

Setting macro security to Low is a good idea if you want to spend a week rebuilding your computer from scratch and six months recovering your identity.

Read instead in Help about digital signatures.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.
The problem has resolved itself. When I first posted this query, there was no sign of the 'disable/enable macro' box that should appear when the file is opened. However, today the 'disable/enable macro' box is present!? I have no idea why it did not appear yesterday.

    Thanks again,

    Alan
