Hi Board,

Apologies in advance if this is a painfully obvious question, I am in the industrial design field and the last time I used Excel was the 8th grade.

We have started a library of different material samples at work. Each material sample has a sticker with a barcode on it. This barcode corresponds to a field in an excel spreadsheet. Each row of the excel sheet corresponds to each sample and contains all the relevant info (pricing, manufacturer, uses, etc.)

What we want to do is to be able to scan the barcode and have the excel sheet locate that barcode in the spreadsheet and move to that entry, then repeat.

The scanner we have automatically sends a carriage return after the barcode so we have been able to get it to work if we use the "Find & Replace" function, but the search field is not reset after each scan.

Is there a way to setup this type of repeating search function, where after it searches it clears the search field and waits for new input? I work in a office full of designers so even me mentioning using Excel to make the database sent chills down people's spines, so the simpler the solution the better.

I am using Excel 2007
Thanks in advance for the help!
