    If option

    Hello everyone,

I have a question and a problem which if solved can be of HUGE help to me.

I would like to know if there is a formula in Excel something like the "IF" option that allows you to assign if option for one cell to another. Since this is not clear here is an example.

    If cell A7=99 cell B7=3

Is this possible to be done? I need this for entire columns so it should be something like IF B1 to B20000 = 99 then C1 to C20000 = 3. If it is possible to be automatic so for example If I enter 99 in cell A7 the excel automatically to mark 3 in the cell B7.

I hope I was clear, thank you in advance for your time and help. Looking forward to spend more time on this forum. Best, NIkola

    Re: If option

    In B1

    =IF(A1=99,3,"")

    copied down.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Re: If option

    Ok great tnx!

But it automatically leaves blank cells in B column if it is A is different from 99. Is it possible not to change anything in B since I alreadu have some values there which should stay unchanged?

You will need VBA macro to do this... which I will leave to the VBA programmers on our site to do for you, if that is your desire.

    Re: If option

Well, I am not really a VBA programmer, I can probably come up with something but I would rather leave it to someone with more efficient VBA knowledge to help you so you get best solution possible.

    Re: If option

If a helper column is an option, you can do something like =IF(A7=99,3,B7) in it and drag down, then copy and paste as values over B when you're done and delete the helper column. If this has to be done only once or rarely, it might be more efficient than a macro.
