    VLookup query

    Hi,

    I have designed a spreadsheet and i want a seperate worksheet (sheet3 for arguments sake) to retrieve customer data from worksheet 2 - The data I required is the customer data currently contained on columns A - H and there are around 50 rows. (A2 - I51)

    I want the seperate sheet to identify entries that have today's date in column I and then list them in Worksheet 3.

    Im having difficulties with the syntax for retrieving the data from a seperate worksheet. There may be several entries for the same date and I want to the seperate sheet to report all customer data in worksheet 3?

    Also, if the date falls on a weekend I would like to retrieve any data for the weekend on the Monday so all cases can be reviewed - Is this possible at all?

    Im at my wits end trying to do this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

    John.

    Re: VLookup

    I do this with a "KEY" system. A column is added to that sheet2 data that creates a unique sequential index of numbers based on a matching system. For your example, we're matching the date listed on Sheet3.

    Then we use an INDEX/MATCH system on Sheet3 to draw over the matching rows from the indexed column.

    Formulas of note are in:
    Sheet2 - J2 (copied down)
    Sheet3 - C1 and D1
    Sheet3 - A4 (copied down)
    Sheet3 - B3 (copied down and across the whole table)

    =========

    You should consider changing the title of this thread. VLOOKUP does not match your question, it is a "guess" at the possible answer, which is actually against the forum rules. "Pulling data from a list by matching dates"...that matches your question, yes?

    Any chance we can get you to adjust the title like suggested so this thread is more accurately described? (See post #3)
