    Re: Vlookup!1

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

Firstly, you didn't follow the instructions for attaching.

Secondly, it is unclear which sheet is the one you are wanting the formula in and what is getting looked up and what is being returned?

    Please clarify.

Ok sorry for not following the attatchment but i thought this would of been easier for you and I would like the Vlookup in number 1 with the data from number 2. I would like a VLOOKUP in the Employee ID column so that when i lookup a number the name should appear in the next coloumn (i havent entered the second coloumn for the name). Is this helpful?

Re: Vlookup and hyperlinking to other sheets

Well, the problem with your attachment is that it limits me to the "picture" you show.

I cannot, for instance, see where you enter the number in 2.jpg to look up from table in 1.jpg.

Also, I cannot see your formatting... You may be entering numbers in fields formatted as text. If so, the next thing you might say is, "I get a #N/A error, even though I see there should be a match."

This is why it is more helpful to attach actual workbooks...

... anyways, I will assume you are entering a number in A13 of 1.jpg

    Try

    =Vlookup(A13,Employees!$A$2:$H$7,2,FALSE)

    Adjust as necessary
