Daily repetitive import and sort, macro, lookup or am i totally on the wrong track.

sorry for the delay, problems posting, locked out since yesterday, no idea why.
I attach an example file and will try to explain what I want to do.

overall, building a front page with standing data, which I will use daily to update other sheets, ie to ensure newly added products, machines etc are not omitted, then, and this is the real question, update the "variables" table with data from the FCASTORDERS sheet, and INVENTORY sheet, such that each day I can draw in new data. The two tables are only in the sheet for ease, and in the real world would be on another machine. So I want to simplify the update process, amd have tried Vlookup to date, and have had my code corrected byNBVC(many thanks), but I guess I am really wondering what is the correct way to do this in as few steps as possible.....ie open file each morning, change the date(somewhere), press enter and it updates.
any advice....brill
