    Excel 2003 font color bug?

    Hello all,

I am experiencing some really strange behavior when it comes to font color when the font is bold.
Lets say I have 3 cells that has 1,2,3 written into them.

If I choose another color then "automatic" and then make the font bold the first cell gets the actual chosen color but the next two gets a totally different color.

Has anybody experienced something like this and what could be the problem?

    It is driving me crazy!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A picture is attached for your reference.

Also I got office 2007 everything but Excel (swedish version) installed + my english version of excel 2003.

Here is the result when creating a totally new workbook writing 1,2,3 in "automatic" font color, changing to BOLD and font color red in all three cells.

    Very strange right!!

This is very strange, I have never experienced this.

Forgive me for this, but have you selected all three cells, before setting the Font Color?

No worries! Yes I did. I've never seen anything like this!

Could this bug be beacuse of my parallel installation of 2007 & 2003? I've tried uninstall/re-install without luck. Also when I did the reinstall my excel jenie (HTML converter)was installed and all the settings where as before the uninstall so I guess windows keeps your office settings even though you have uninstalled it.

As I looks now I have to make a total reinstall of XP.

I cannot reproduce this in XL03. Following these steps

    enter 1, 2, 3, in cells A1 to A3
    select all three cells
set font color to red - all cells will display red text
set color to automatic - all cells will display black text
click bold - all cell will display bold black text.

    I'm a bit confused by
If I choose another color then "automatic" and then make the font bold
Can you write down a step by step?

I cannot reproduce this in XL03. Following these steps

enter 1, 2, 3, in cells A1 to A3, Yes, and it could be any text or numbers the results are the same.
    select all three cells Yes
set font color to red - all cells will display red text Yes
Make the red text BOLD - Color changes to Blue
set color to automatic - all cells will display black text Yep
click bold - all cell will display bold black text. True

So there is different behavior if color is set to "automatic" then if a sepcific color is chosen.

Also see my first picture that I posted, as you can see the color chosen is red but the preveiw windows shows the text as blue.

LOL that sounds right! It must be something in my settings that has freaked out or somekind of virus. I've never seen anything like this and I've be working with Excel for many years.

    have a great day!

can't reproduce in XL03. You're probably right in suspecting some setting on your machine. Weird.
