Columns only go to IV

I am having some trouble, I have a rather small spreadsheet in relation to excel capibility, ( About 400 rows X 400 Columns ) Now when I open it up it only goes to Column IV and there is no more columns availible. I hate to think I lost all the information i had in the columns after that.

Has anyone seen this before and is there a solution.

Versions of Excel prior to 2007 have 256 columns. 2007 has 16,384.

I am using 2007, but when i saved it I think i saved it so that it would be able to be opened by earlier versions as well. since that could cause my problem do you think there is any way to retrieve that data??

You need to save it in native 2007 format (xlsx, xlsm), close, and reopen.

Thanks so much for your help. It looks like the data that was in those columns is gone for good but I have the ability to re complete it, and learned a valuable lesson about saving between formats
