Outside borders automatic color

I am relatively new to Excel, having been a die-hard Lotus-123 user for 20+ years.

I need help figuring out how to change the default for the "automatic" color when using the outside border tool. Only color I can get using the drop-down box is light blue - which is shown as Automatic.

The only way I have figured out to get a black outside border is to go through the "more borders" function - which adds 2-3 extra steps. As I use borders A LOT this is exceedingly frustrating.

Can someone please tell me how to change the outside border/border automatic color to BLACK instead of the current default of light blue. I have spent hours going through every help search string I can think of and can't get information on this.

Try looking under:

Tools -> Options -> View -> Gridline Colors (select color from drop down)

Thanks much for the response. Sorry but I can't find a "tools" option anywhere - I'm using Excel 2007,
