    conditional summation

I have two columns of excel data and i'd like to sum all entries in one column that have the same criteria as determined by entries in the other column. for example here are my two columns

    A 100
    A 200
    A 300
    B 400
    B 500
    C 600
    C 700
    C 800

I'd like to turn this in to

    A 600
    B 900
    C 2100

The list I have is very long, so it would be nice if there's some sort of formula to do this.

    Re: conditional summation

hi! i am also doing projection sales. when i got in this position they already have a template/formula for projection. I wanna know your idead about it. The formula is:
    January projection = (day1-last cut-off sales/no. of days)*no. of selling days
in short January projection =(average daily sales)*no. of selling days
