Title has been changed
Look same for me. Try something like:
How to show users in groups from report
(I take it from your explanation)
Hi, I have changed the title again as requested, though I am not quite sure what was wrong with it in the first place.
Thanks
Mal
Here, this is simplest only showing 1 instead of Yes if that's not problem with you:
example2(1).xls
About title, from the rules:

Hi, Thanks for looking at this, but your answer is not quite what I am looking for. My data set is much bigger than in my example (ie, there are around 1500 groups and 600 users that are members of them in various combinations).
I need to find a way of easily showing which groups a particular (person or group of people) is a member of, hence the need for some kind of lookup. I realise that I can put the information into some kind of pivot table the amount of data I have got is not going to fit into it. I also want to be able to take only a subset of the data and display it, so for example only the groups that users1,3 and 6 are members of.
Thanks
Mal
All of that you can use through Pivot table and any other solution would be complicated that this. Only thig is it doesn't show you Yes but 1 (wich is even better because you can see summ by group and user at the end, just need to adopt to view)
But if you want without Pivot table it can be made (let me or someone else see).
The only problem with that is, as I mentioned, there are over 500 users but only 255 columns
Unfortunately, I can't post a spreadsheet with the actual information because it is security sensitive for my company, so I can only give you descriptions and the example spreadsheet that I have already posted
Of course, nobody asked you for info. Dummy data, that show how table looks but without sensitive data is perfectly fine.
Maybe soltuion would be to create meta-groups so each of new grups will contain about 10 groups. Then you will be able to put Pivot table in each sheet.
(or create Report filter in one PT)

You can do it quite easily with a Pivot table, the catch being that you should drag the user button as page Fields and the groups as col fields ( see attachment)
