I need to complete my tax returns asap and I have come across a challenge. My online bank doesn't allow me to export statements.
I would like to be able to import statement data directly into my accounts programme - I can do that by creating CSV files in Excel. The challenge is that I have only been able to copy and paste the statement data from the bank's website into one one column in Excel. The column headings are still there and the original data columns are often separated by a number of spaces (but not always).
Is there a way to get Excel to extract the original column data from this one column and copy it into new separate columns: date, detail, debit, credit etc? Is this Pivot Tables? I couldn't work them out.
This will help me enormously, otherwise I will have a long session of data input.
