Removing automatically inserted new lines

hey, I'm trying to copy multi-line text (mailing addresses) into single cells on a spreadsheet and I don't want any of the auto-format newline nonsense that it's giving me now. how can I turn this off?

One other question I'd like an answer to, without starting a new thread: how do I paste without putting in hyperlinks?
