    Allow users to edit ranges

    Good morning,

Could anyone offer some method to solve the following:-

I have set up a workbook containing 7 worksheets, 3 of which need to be locked for individuals to edit.

I have achieved this, by using the 'allow users to edit ranges' with each of the ranges being allocated to an individual...

However i need to be able to track the changes made by these individuals...

Is this possible, as the track changes function only tracks the individual that is login into the computer (everyone uses the same generic login)

    Thank you

What do you expect excel to do to differentiate between people if they all use the same login?

re: Allow users to edit ranges

Would it be possible to do the following:.

Have a work book which is normally locked thereby allowing all users to view the data entered but not edit it.

However, when a cell is selected a form would open requesting that the user enter their own id and password (which would be stored on a separate hidden sheet) which would unlock ranges of cells over multiple worksheets and also unhide hidden sheets if they had suffiecient privilidges.

Once the changes have been made, it would save the workbook and relock itself, recording on another sheet who login in what cell addresses have been changed, the value of the cell prior to it being changed and the new cell value.

I have being looking at the forum, and it seems to be possible but i'm no programmer, so any help would be useful and much appreciated...

    Many thanks in advance
