When I highlight an area that I want to be sorted, let's say rows 20-40 in columns AB-AD, I go to Data-Sort and it instead highlights every column before it for sorting, so rows 20-40 from columns A-AD. When I click cancel, since I only want to sort a section of my excel spreadsheet, it goes back to the highlighted area.

Have I unknowingly hit a sorting formula that automatically sorts all columns before the selected area? This was not an issue when I first started my spreadsheet, but recently has become an issue. Any troubleshooting ideas would be helpful.
