Sumif

Hi all,
can anyone tell me if there is a different way to calculate this formula?

=SUMIF(S:S,">10000",Q:Q)-AA17-AA16-AA15-AA14-AA13-AA12

instead of using ">10000" when i use a cell reference it does not recognise the value in the cell.
also, there are several other cells that have the same formula ie -AA16-AA15-AA14-AA13-AA12
i am deducting the results from these cells that are already calculated to get the correct total of cell values that have only 10000 in this formula example.
i hope that i am explaining ok..
