Question Excel 2007 and Random Access memory

I am at a point where I am running out of RAM for the 2BG allowed in 2007. Does anyone know if Microsoft has a later version of Excel that will allow me to grab onto 3GB? My file sizes are close to .5GB. It seems that I am always pushing the limit of what Microsoft can provide.

Re: Excel 2007 and Random Access memory

    hi,

As far as I know, the next version of Excel after 2007 has not yet been released.
Charles has plenty of details about Excel's limits in the various versions on his website: http://decisionmodels.com/memlimits.htm (plus other parts of the website)

However, I suspect that rather than "pushing the limits of what MS can provide" you may actually be using the wrong tool for the job (similar to using a garden trowel/spade for digging foundations for a skyscraper rather than using an excavator). Perhaps you should be using a database tool such as MS Access, or perhaps we could suggest better ways of designing your spreadsheets...

Can you please explain what your workbooks are intended to do & how they are currently designed?

    Rob,
Thank you for your response. I solved my problem by going to more workbooks. Access does a great job of managing the data but Excel has more power in the analytical department.
