    Two-Way Lookup from a Matrix

    Hi,

I have set up a matrix as follows:

    Column H: Dates
Column I: Buy Rates (heading is “B”)
Column J: Sell Rates (heading is “S”)

In column A I have a list of dates and in column B the letter “B” or “S”. I am trying to create a formula in column C that will use the date in column A and the letter (“B” or “S”) in column B to return from the matrix the value of the buy/sell rate at a particular date.

    Can someone please help?

    Thanks!

Re: Two-Way Lookup from a Matrix

assuming the date is in A2 and B or S in B2, then try, copied down.

    =Index(H:J,Match(A2,H:H,0),Match(B2,H$1:J$1,0))
Where there is a will there are many ways.
