Question Moving info from 1 cell to multiple cells

    Hi,

I have a clinical research database that needs 3 scores for each patient included in it. I ordered the scores from medical records and the 3 scores came back in a single cell for each patient. They came back in the format "XXX.A B C" where XXX are numbers I'm not concerned with and A, B, and C are the scores I'm looking for. Is there any way to move these scores into 3 different cells (1 for each score) along the same row? I need this done for thousands of patients. Your help is greatly appreciated!

If they are consistent, try inserting 3 columns after those scores...

Then select the column with the scores and go to Data|Text to Columns..

    Select Delimited and click Next,

Select Space and Other and beside other enter a period (.)

    Then click Finish.

This should separate the values in the 4 columns...

    Thanks.

If the scores themselves don't have decimals, you can select the column and replace the decimal with a space to get XXX A B C. Then do Data > Text to columns, tick Delimited, Next, tick Space, Finish.

That will give you XXX A B C in separate columns, and you can delete the XXX column.
