Problem seeing formulas as opposed to values.

I'm in the process of teaching myself Excel out of a book, and most so far seems easy enough, however I did encounter one problem so far.

On a spreadsheet I'm building all my formulas would show as formulas, not the numerical value the formula should have produced. After spending an hour trying to figure out what setting I needed to tinker with, I just copied and pasted the all the filled cells to a new spreadsheet, and then the formulas worked as intended.

I'm guessing the original and some setting I inadvertently activated?

    Thank you.

    Re: Probablly pretty simple.

    Hi,
please read the forum rules and amend your thread title to something that describes your problem.

In your workbook you can hit CTRL-` (that's the accent sign to the left of the 1 key) to toggle between formula and result view.
