adding amount in column and pasting in rows

Hi All,

In the attached file i need to sum amounts between spaces for eg sum A2 and A3 and put sum result in B2. then space is there so sum A5,A6, A7,A8 and put result in B5. Similarly i have to do this for all, and the entries are around 40000 odd. Can anyone tell me if there is any Excel function to do this ? or please advice me the steps to do this.
