Pivot Tables - Compare Data by date

    Hi,

My question is pretty simple but hard to make a short description for the Title.

What i'm looking for is a way to compare the previous weeks/months/years visits to my website with this months visits on the same pivot chart so they show ontop of each other.

My data headers are I.P(I use this as a total number on the day), Date (24-Jan-03 format), website visted, website refered(usually google).

I put the Date as the Axis Field and the IP as the Values and it gives me nice linear chart but i can compare...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks
    Sebastian

Excel treats dates a serial values no matter how they are formatted. So in your example 24-Jan-03 is actually 37645 to excel. If you want to compare by month day or year you might add columns to your data with month function, day function year function etc. or combinations thereof. Good Luck.

Remember you can group Dates in Pivot Tables at a variety of levels so you can for ex. Group Date Field by both Month & Year and you should find you get side by side values (2008 by month next to 2009 by month for ex.) and obviously you can swap around to get Month by Year rather than Year by Month.

Is that what you meant ? If in doubt post a sample file.
