Is there anyway to make phone calls automaticly from a spread sheet
I'm calling old customers and it would be easy to just press a button and it will dial for me
Thanks

You'll get an answer as soon as you comply with the rules you agreed to about thread titles. You thread title is no where descriptive of your question. Please change it.
how are you connecting to phone line? is it voip? are you talking about skype or similar?

how to say no convincingly
most important thing you need
Martin Wilson: SPV
and RSMBC
just through a modem
not sure how to use the others
so your not talking voice calls ,you want to launch say hyperterminal and dial from the number in your worksheet.
or do you mean your cable modem?
if so you will have a problem as the dsl and phone lines are split by filter so they cant talk to each other on purpose.

I'm calling customers for a survey so it is voice
what other options would I have
Hi Dryclean, what they are asking is if you are making your calls through just a regular telephone. If you are, then there is no way (I think) to do what you ask, because your telephone and computer have no way to talk to each other.
If you are using some type of software like Skype, that uses software and your internet connection to make calls directly with your computer (usually using a headset) then it MIGHT be possible to do what you want.
I've used this in the past to dial from Excel, but my modem is no longer plugged into a phone line, so I can't test it now ...
E.g. from the Immediate window,![]()

Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate
what we need to know is how you are connected to the internet
are you are using a dial up modem
are you using a cable modem
or some other broadband connection
what shg's code does(i think) is basically connect your phone line to the pc via the tapi( Telephony Application Programming Interface) so your microphone and speaker become a phone

When I used it Martin, I just used my speakerphone. I'm sure you could do it through the mic, though.
Seems to me it would be all be OBE by Skype, though.
well in theory you can use speaker phone depends on signaling though
if its 10 pps(loop disconnect dialling) then it might work as long as phone was on hook till connection and you were in parallel then picking up phone would maintain loop and all would work, but you cant pick up phone first then dial coz the loop would never get broken, then again if youre using tone calling this wouldnt matter as the tapi would hold the loop and once phone picked up it would maintain that even if tapi disconects.
all depends on your carrier. but i suspect everyone uses some sort of tone dialling.
but does the tapi interface support all dialing types? dtmf. loop dis? and whatever you use in the u.s.a. i have no idea
I'll tell you what I'd like to do
Highlight a field in the worksheet that has the phone number on it
press alt something or crl something and it will dial my phone through my modem and then I'll pick up the reciever and talk
I have dsl line right now but the modem could be on a different line if needed
cant try it as i aint got a modem at home might be able to when i return to work next week!
andy pope posted some code here

Is there an easy way to make calls from a spreadsheet using VOIP?
