use image placement to reflect data value in bar chart

    Hello,

I'm building a chart where i have one data value representative for each product. (ex- Product A = 50, Product B =45, Product C = 30, etc). I now want to plot these values in a chart along the x axis, with the product names along the y axis. I want the values to be an image when plotted (an image of the product). I don't want the image stretched or repeated/tiled. I'm not sure how to best do this. Any advice?

    thanks.

Do you mean you want the Data Series to contain an image rather than a fill color or do you want the data label to be an image? In either case you can only "fill" the series or label with an image, but the image itself cannot be the series or label.

I assume you already know how to change the fill color which, as you already know, can be an image.
In Excel 2007 you have three options:
Stretch, Stack, or Stack with Scale.
Given you don't want it stretched or stacked (tiled), that leaves Stack with Scale - which is explained in the Excel Help.

Re: use image placement to reflect data value in bar chart

I attached somewhat of a picture of what i'm trying to do.

Basically i have these jpegs of cars that i want to put in place of a bar chart. To give the illusion of a car race. I added the jpegs in to the label background, but i can't get it to display properly.

i'm willing to go about this whole chart another way if their is an easier solution aslong as i can have the following.
1.) Y axis labels representing products
2.) X axis labels representing the product score
3.) the datapoints are images (single, non stacked images)
4.) also show the product score data label.
