Time related (hour) cell added to General numbered cell

I'm quite sure this is very simple, and i'm making it harder than it is, but here is my question.

If i have one cell, with a general number in it (say, 32) and another cell which is formatted to an 'hour' format, (say it reads 4), how do i get the first cell to read '36'? Everything i try either reduces the 4 hours from the second cell to a fraction, or overrides the first cell completely leaving it to only read '4'.

Please help! I hope i've explained it clearly enough.

    Do you mean ?

    C1: =A1+HOUR(B1)
    formatted to general

    or

    C1: =(A1/24)+B1
    formatted to [hh]:mm
