Picking up the month and year from a data field

Hi,

i need to populate a field to show the month and year as follows:

the data is entered in one field like this: 01/09/2006

i need another field to populate this: Jun 06

i have tried to use a few formulae but to avail

Also - i know i can format this to show Jun 06 - but i do not want the field to display the actual value i.e. 01/06/2006
