Time Adding Taking Away.. Minus Minutes?

I’ve a simple enough question I’m trying to add and take away time in minutes hours and seconds e.g. 00:01:00 – 00:00:59 = 0:01 but if I try to get a minus figure e.g. 00:01:00 – 00:01:01 instead of giving me -00:0:01 I get ####.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Excel won't display negative dates/times unless you change to the 1904 date system, which I would not recommend.

If you are not using these values for further calculations, (lets say your values are in A1 and B1)

If you have a negative time, it'll look good but in reality is a string and you won't be able to perform calculations from it.

If you do want to perform calculations with those values, maybe have negative numbers in 1 column and positive numbers in another and then treat your calculations accordingly (e.g.)
