Search for a value, then find a value in a range of cells for that value?

    Dear all,

Assume I have a sheet like this:

    Criterium 1

    Yes 1
    No 2
    Maybe 3

    Criterium 2

    Hello 1
    Goodbye 2
    Farewell 3

The criteria are in one column, the specifications are in another column, the values in the column next to that.

How can I search for a criterium, then search for a specified value in the rows below that criterium and have the value behind the specification returned?

For example: how can I find the value for criterium 2, goodbye (which is 2)?

    Thanks and regards,

    Juriaan.

You need to define all values and use vlookup function.

Try to insert vlookup function and figure how it works or post an example
Never use Merged Cells in Excel
