data from one worksheet to another

I have an excel file with two worksheets. One worksheet has two seperate cells that a date needs to be inserted, in one or the other, one would have a date the other would be left blank. How do I capture the date from either one of the cells from the one worksheet to the one cell on the other worksheet?

Hi Floresra, it would be simplest if you just show us what you're trying to do.

So mockup a sample workbook showing the dilemma and your desired results, point out where the results came from if not obvious in your sample data.

Then click GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to post up your workbook.

enter date in either of the first worksheet, I'd like the date to appear automatically in the second work sheet.

You explanantion is little confusing, but I intepret it to mean that if a date is in either cell on Sheet2, then you want the cell in Sheet1 to show a date.

If this is correct test which cell is not blank:
    =IF(Sheet1!A2="",Sheet1!B2,"")
    or

    =If(NOT(ISBLANK(Sheet1!A2)),Sheet1!B2,"")
However, what if both cells have a date? Which gets precedence? This is moot if only cell will ever have a date.

How about this, format the cell as DATE and put in this formula:

    =MAX(Sheet2!A2:B2)
