    Cant Control Cell Formatting

    First post on this site.

    I need some help...

I am pasting a part number into a cell.
One of the part numbers is 10E0043
No mater what I do, the part number changes to 1.00E+44
    Scientific
I have tried formatting the cell prior to pasting (General, Text, Custom-General)... But always back to scientific.
The work around (so far) is to:

    Type in the part number
Use the pointer to cut the part number
    Format the cell to text
    Paste the part number
    Ignore the error

Is there an easier way to do this??

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Cant Control Cell Formatting

Hi Bailey, welcome to the forum.

If I enter 10E0043 into a cell, it does as you say - changes to 1.00E+44. If I then format the cell as text, then re-type 10E0043 it stays that way.

If I format the cell as Text prior to typing the part number into a cell, it stays 10E0043 the first time.
