Vlookup help

Hi Guys
I am working on a cabinet costing sheet.
On sheet 1 in column A
I want a drop down list of codes like: B200 – B300 – B400 etc.
When I select one from my drop down list, say B200 I want column B to display the price $100 and so on down the page.

Sheet 2 Column A will have all my cabinet codes B200 – B300 – B400 etc with their respective cost next to them $100 - $200 - $300 etc in column B. down the page.
Can you give me the VLOOKUP formula to achieve this.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Vlookup help

Try this in B2 after you've selected a code in A2:

=VLOOKUP($A2, Sheet2!$A$1:$B$100, 2, 0)

If you add a 3rd column of data on Sheet2, you could grab it like so:

=VLOOKUP($A2, Sheet2!$A$1:$C$100, 3, 0)

Always put your code between code tags.
your code here
Hi JB
Just a dum question.
Why in the formula do you say try this in B2 after I select A2
Why wouldn't I be using B1 and A1?
I want all my codes on sheet 2 to be in column A and all my prices to be next to them in column B.
When I click my drop down list in column A1 on sheet 1
I want the respective prices to be displayed in column B next to them.
EG: Sheet 1 A1 will have a drop down list of codes
As will A2 A3 A4 A5 and so on. Prices will be displayed next to them in B2 B3 B4 etc.
I hope I have explained it ok, I'm new to excel.
Thanks for your help.

Sure, A1 is fine. Most sheets I've dealt with have some sort of titles across the top row. If yours don't, start there. Just change the first formula appropriately. Once the first value appears correctly, you can copy that formula down.

If you want the cell that formula is in to stay blank until you make a choice in A1, then this small adjustment:

=IF($A1="","",VLOOKUP($A1, Sheet2!$A$1:$B$100, 2, 0)
