Simple Edit for Multiple File Reference?

Is there anyone that knows a way to reference a cell to another file by use of another cell that contains the name of the filename/path?

Typically a formula that references another file might have something like this within it: 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\[Book1.xls]Sheet1'

If each month "Book1" is changed in succession, instead of changing 1000's of formulas to say "Book2", "3", "4" etc., how about a cell on the spreadsheet where the formulas rest that you could type in "Book75" and the formulas would follow suit.

    Is this just fantasy?

    Thank you in advance.

A fantasy? No. The Function you're describing is called INDIRECT() ... check the Excel Help Files to learn all about how it works.

Then be sad because the builtin version won't let you INDIRECTly reference closed workbooks, which I'm sure you want to do.

So, once you get a good grasp of INDIRECT(), check out one of the many "beefed up" versions that will allow you to reference closed workbooks.

The downside of these solutions is their speed. Nothing to do about that that I know of.
