Copying a cell in increments of two

    Hi All-

Hopefully I can properly explain what I am trying to do. I have two worksheets. The first one, I have column headings Type 1, Date 1, Type 2, Date 2, Type 3, Date 3 and so on. Looks like this:

    Type 1 Date 1 Type 2 Date 2 Type 3 Date 3

On worksheet #2, I want to have only the "Type" Column headings now in the row headings. So I would like to see

    Type 1
    Type 2
    Type 3
    Type 4
    so on and so forth.

I do I create a formula to copy for worksheet #2?

    Thanks

PS. The column names are not actually Type 1, Type 2...I used that to keep it generic. The column names will be vastly different. ie. xyz123, l2k3, 4h2j

Laya, you indicate a row layout in your description, but demonstrate a column result below that. Stormseed's technique is a good one, but you will have to adjust it based on which you actually meant.

Here's a version of that sheet showing BOTH answers on Sheet2.

No worries...and I hope you don't read my input as a criticism. Not at all. Just showing that if they really wanted a columnar result, they would need to switch over to the ROW() counting technique instead of COLUMN() technique.

    Cheers...

Thanks a bunch...this has helped me IMMENSELY. I am not quite sure how it works due to me not being an expert in Excel...I will lookup the "indirect" formula and the RIC reference.

    But again, thanks. It works!
